Basketball Recap: Four Corners Comes Up Short

On Friday, the Four Corners Coyotes were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 52-51 to the Fort Meade Miners. The Coyotes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Four Corners' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Danielys Pena Ponce, who posted 20 points in addition to five boards and four steals. The match was Pena Ponce's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Villanueva, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 steals.

Even though they lost, Four Corners smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive boards in five consecutive games.

Four Corners' defeat dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Fort Meade, their win bumped their record up to 9-6.

Four Corners has already played their next contest (against Discovery), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Fort Meade has also has no score uploaded for their next matchup, this one against Marathon.
