Basketball Recap: Waccamaw Falls Despite Big Games from AJ Grate and Sutton Cooper

Waccamaw lost against Dillon last Friday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Waccamaw Warriors took a 57-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Dillon Wildcats.

Waccamaw's loss came despite strong showings from Sutton Cooper and AJ Grate. Cooper went 6-for-15 on his way to 17 points and seven rebounds, while Grate went 6-for-15 en route to 17 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. Cooper's evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Colin Behney was another key player, putting up six points and five boards.

Even though they lost, Waccamaw smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in six consecutive matches.

Waccamaw's loss dropped their record down to 16-10. As for Dillon, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season.

As of now, neither Waccamaw nor Dillon have any future games scheduled.
