Preview: St. John Lutheran Saints vs. Saint Francis Catholic Wolves
St. John Lutheran has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Saint Francis Catholic Wolves at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. St. John Lutheran will be strutting in after a victory while Saint Francis Catholic will be coming in after a defeat.
In what's become a running theme this season, St. John Lutheran gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat First Academy 52-23 at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory St. John Lutheran has posted against First Academy since January 3, 2019.
Gracie Sue Rice was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayla joy Bowen, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten steals.
Meanwhile, Saint Francis Catholic unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Tuesday. They suffered a tough 41-20 loss at the hands of Oak Hall. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Saint Francis Catholic has scored all season.
St. John Lutheran's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-4. As for Saint Francis Catholic, their loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 10-2.
Things could have been worse for St. John Lutheran, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 41-26 loss to Saint Francis Catholic in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. Can St. John Lutheran avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
