Recap: Battle Ground Academy Wildcats vs. University School of Nashville Tigers
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Middle Tennessee Christian, the Battle Ground Academy Wildcats were happy to have found some success on Friday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 60-32 victory over University School of Nashville. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Battle Ground Academy also won the last time the pair played last Saturday.
Abby Mclay was her usual excellent self, scoring 18 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Ann Gentry Lambert was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with four steals.
Despite the defeat, University School of Nashville had strong showings from Josie Whelan, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and three steals, and Kate Vaughn, who scored three points along with five assists and two steals. Whelan also posted two blocks for the first time this season.
University School of Nashville's lineup was just a bit different on Friday as Whelan got a bit more time on the court (25 vs. her season average of 11.89). Whelan made the most of the opportunity, scoring eight points along with six rebounds and three steals. A few more games like that and she might be seeing even more time going forward.
Battle Ground Academy's win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-13. As for University School of Nashville, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-15.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Battle Ground Academy will square off against Columbia Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Battle Ground Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Friday. As for University School of Nashville, they will head out on the road to face off against Grace Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. University School of Nashville will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings (they are ranked 339th, while Grace Christian Academy is ranked 137th).
