The Silverdale Academy Seahawks will take on the Halls Red Devils in a tournament on Friday. Silverdale Academy is coming into the game hot, having won their last 40 games dating back to last season.
While Silverdale Academy's win against East Hamilton wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Silverdale Academy had just enough and edged out East Hamilton 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Seahawks have posted since April 26, 2024.
Airebis Cox was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). Cox was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Allie Weber, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Heidi Bryant was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one triple and one run.
Halls not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since May 11, 2024. Everything went their way against Clinton as Halls made off with a 9-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Red Devils in their matchups with the Dragons: they've now won five in a row.
Like Silverdale Academy, Halls also got a great game from a two-way player: Emery Bales. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Bales was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Makaylie Hutchison and Adrie Johnston did most of the damage at the plate: Hutchison went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double, while Johnston went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one triple. Another player making a difference was Harper Bales, who scored two runs and stole a base.
Silverdale Academy pushed their record up to 3-0 with the win, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Halls, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
Silverdale Academy beat Halls 4-1 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Will Silverdale Academy repeat their success, or does Halls have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
