Basketball Game Preview: Satanta Indians vs. Ashland Blue Jays

After both having extra time off, the Satanta Indians and the Ashland Blue Jays will shake off the cobwebs and face off against one another on Tuesday. Satanta will be strutting in after a victory while Ashland will be coming in after a loss.

Satanta will bounce into Tuesday's match after beating Sublette, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. Satanta enjoyed a cozy 62-46 win over Sublette two weeks ago.

Yahaira Puerto continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 11 of 27 on her way to 33 points in addition to six assists and four steals. Her evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Eva Loewen, who made all 5 shots she took to post 11 points and five rebounds.

Satanta smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Ashland came up short against Hodgeman County two weeks ago and fell 43-32. The Blue Jays have struggled against the Longhorns recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Satanta's record now sits at 2-4. As for Ashland, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.

Satanta came up short against Ashland in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 43-37. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Ashland's Biannca Ceniceros, who went 11 of 20 on her way to 24 points along with seven boards and six steals. Now that Satanta knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
