Basketball Recap: Langley Saxons vs. McLean Highlanders
It was a good run, but the Langley Saxons unfortunately witnessed the end of their ten-game winning streak on Monday. They fell to McLean 30-26. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Langley has scored all season.
Langley lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Vicky Zawisza, who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds. It was the first time this season that Zawisza pulled down eight or more rebounds. Anya Rahman was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with three steals and two blocks.
Langley's loss ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 19-2. As for McLean, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season.
Langley will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Generals at 7:30 p.m. Washington-Liberty will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 101st, while the Saxons are ranked 20th). McLean does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
