League recap: Briar Woods extends winning streak with victory over Potomac Falls

5A Conference 14 recap November 19, 2013

Briar Woods extended the longest winning streak in 5A Conference 14 this week by beating Potomac Falls, 57-0. The victory was the seventh in a row for the team.

The Panthers scaled the state rankings by moving to 174 from 207 this week, the biggest jump in the league. Potomac Falls was able to move up by falling to Briar Woods 57-0.

6-foot-0 quarterback Trace McSorley of Charlie Pierce's team is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,612. He has also thrown 15 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Travis Fulgham. The Broad Run star has 23 catches for 509 yards.

An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Broad Run takes on Stone Bridge. As it stands, the Spartans are in fourth, while the Bulldogs are in third.

Jason Allen's team lost to the Falcons 57-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
