Recap: Union-Endicott Tigers vs. Elmira Express

Even though the Union-Endicott Tigers have not done well against the Elmira Express recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Union-Endicott walked away with a 52-43 win over Elmira. That's another feather in the cap for Union-Endicott, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.

Despite the loss, Elmira saw an underclassman step up: Mariah Matias dropped a double-double on 11 points and 25 rebounds. Matias is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Ellie Clearwater, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Union-Endicott's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Elmira, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.

Union-Endicott will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Maine-Endwell at 1:45 p.m. on January 13, 2024. After both having extra time off, Elmira and Bishop Kearney will dust off their jerseys to take on one another at 8:30 p.m. on December 27th.
