Baseball Recap: Chaparral Starts Season with Victory Against Fort Collins

Chaparral had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They were the clear victor by a 14-8 margin over the Fort Collins Lambkins on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Wolverines in their matchups with the Lambkins: they've now won four in a row.

Beckett Bacon looked comfortable as he tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, Ryne Dodson was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs. Logan Manuello was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Coming up, Chaparral will take on Cactus Shadows at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Cactus Shadows' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Chaparral's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Fort Collins, they will square off against Fairview at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
