Murrieta Valley is 8-2 against Murrieta Mesa since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Nighthawks will head out on the road to take on the Rams at 3:30 p.m. Murrieta Valley has given up an average of 7.5 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Murrieta Valley had taken Great Oak down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Friday. The Nighthawks lost 11-1 to the Wolfpack. The Nighthawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Murrieta Valley saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Riley Kujawa, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Murrieta Mesa was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 12-11 heartbreaker at the hands of Chaparral. The loss was just more heartbreak for the Rams, who fell 3-1 when the teams last met on Monday.

JD Nelson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that he launched this season. Zach Janczyk was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4.

Murrieta Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Murrieta Mesa, their loss dropped their record down to 9-5.

Murrieta Valley skirted past Murrieta Mesa 1-0 when the teams last played back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Nighthawks since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
