Basketball Game Preview: Bellarmine Prep Lions vs. Lakes Lancers

The Bellarmine Prep Lions will take on the Lakes Lancers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bellarmine Prep is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56 points per game this season.

Bellarmine Prep will head into Friday's contest eager for some revenge after what happened against Silas: Bellarmine Prep blew Silas out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Friday Silas got their revenge. Bellarmine Prep fell just short of Silas by a score of 45-43. The Lions' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Kyla Frazier, who posted 16 points and five rebounds. Her evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Melina Petramalo was another key player, going 6 of 12 on her way to 14 points along with six boards and three steals.

Even though they lost, Bellarmine Prep smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in five consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Lakes was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 42-37 to Peninsula. The Lancers have struggled against the Seahawks recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Lakes' defeat dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Bellarmine Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 16-5.

Bellarmine Prep took their win against Lakes in their previous meeting back in January by a conclusive 75-49. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Lakes' Samara Oliver, who scored 32 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.
