Softball Preview: Samson Tigers vs. Cottonwood Bears
The Samson Tigers will head out on the road to take on the Cottonwood Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Samson has given up an average of 12.9 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
Things were looking good for Samson after they put the first points on the board on Monday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They came up short against Carroll, falling 14-4. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Samson saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Molly Glisson, who scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases Glisson has posted since back in April of 2024. Ally Zorn was another, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Even though they lost, Samson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Cottonwood lost 19-4 to Headland on Monday. The defeat continues a trend for the Bears in their meetings with the Rams: they've now lost six in a row.
Cottonwood's loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Samson, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.
Samson might still be hurting after the 24-7 loss they got from Cottonwood when the teams last played on Tuesday. Can Samson avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
