Softball Game Preview: Kennewick Lions vs. Hanford Falcons

Kennewick and Hanford are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. Kennewick will look to defend their home field on Friday against Hanford at 4:00 p.m. Kennewick has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with four straight defeats, while Hanford will come in with three straight wins.

Kennewick is headed into the game having just suffered their biggest loss since April 23, 2024 on Tuesday. They lost 9-3 to Kamiakin.

Mayce Davis was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Davis is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylee Bendewald, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one triple.

Meanwhile, Hanford made easy work of Hermiston on Tuesday and carried off an 11-1 victory. Considering the Falcons have won three contests by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Hanford let Audrey Roberts and Neve Jimenez run wild. Roberts scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3, while Jimenez scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Those three hits gave Roberts a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jadyn Owens, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Hanford was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .458. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .458 or higher in three consecutive matches.

Kennewick now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Hanford, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.

Kennewick might still be hurting after the 16-1 defeat they got from Hanford in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can Kennewick avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
