Los Padres recap Oct. 30, 2012
Lompoc extended the longest winning streak in Los Padres this week by beating Nipomo, 58-13. This was the team's ninth consecutive win.
Santa Ynez made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 8,431 from 8,749. The improvement came about via a 28-14 victory over the Pirates last week.
Santa Ynez's dynamic duo of Brock Dickey and Spencer Armenta proved tough for Templeton to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Dickey threw for 233 yards and one touchdown and Armenta had 93 yards receiving. Alec Hanna helped Santa Ynez's passing attack out by catching six balls for 75 yards.
Nikko Hayes was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 188 yards on three carries as Lompoc lost to the Eagles.
6-foot-0 quarterback Dickey of the Pirates is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1482. He has also thrown seven touchdowns. On the ground, the Titans' Tommy Saenz has rushed for 1220 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Ian Wilkinson. The Nipomo star has 51 catches for 542 yards.
Morro Bay's Derek Viles needs only 38 yards against Templeton next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 120 carries Viles has accumulated 962 yard this year.
A big matchup in Los Padres this week will be when Andrew Jones' team takes on Cabrillo. At the moment, the Braves are in first, while the Conquistadores are in fourth.
Lompoc led the league in scoring this week after putting up 58 points on Nipomo. Hayes in the win.
