Soccer Preview: Crockett County vs. South Gibson
The Crockett County Cavaliers will face off against the South Gibson Hornets at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
South Gibson will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Crockett County extended their winning streak to nine two weeks ago. The Cavaliers' defense stepped up to hand Dyer County a 9-0 shutout. The final result isn't all the surprising considering Crockett County's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee soccer rankings (they are ranked 65th, while Dyer County are ranked 301st).
Meanwhile, South Gibson hasn't lost a match since April 17th, a trend which continued in their latest game on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Dyersburg as they made off with a 4-0 win.
South Gibson hit the Trojans with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Jonathan Lewis (2), Gregory Suiter, and Austin Crone.
Crockett County pushed their record up to 10-3 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 34 goals over those six games.
