Basketball Recap: Clewiston Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

There's no place like home for Clewiston, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They put the hurt on the Avon Park Red Devils with a sharp 43-22 win on Friday. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 21 points or more this season.

Clewiston's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kalyn Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten steals. The dominant performance gave Johnson a new career-high in steals. Tyra Fields was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and 11 boards.

Clewiston smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Avon Park only pulled down 13 offensive rebounds.

Several Red Devils players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Keivelisse Soto, who posted ten points and six rebounds. Soto is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Tytianna Allen, who had eight points and three steals.

Clewiston's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1. As for Avon Park, they now have a losing record at 2-3.

Clewiston didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 45-12 loss against First Baptist Academy on the 16th. As for Avon Park, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 44-34 defeat against Hardee on the 16th.
