Basketball Recap: Needville Takes a Loss

Needville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were outmatched by the La Marque Cougars and fell 65-36. While losing is never fun, the Bluejays can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 977th, while the Cougars are ranked 89th).

Despite the loss, Needville still got an impressive performance from Bohdan Zeitz, who went 6 of 11 en route to 17 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaydon Ortiz, who posted nine points and three steals.

Needville's loss dropped their record down to 5-9. As for La Marque, the win keeps them at an undefeated 20-0.

Needville will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on George Ranch at 1:00 p.m. on December 31st. As for La Marque, they will be taking part in a tournament against Huntington at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday.
