Otay Ranch won the last time they faced La Jolla and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Mustangs won by a run and slipped past the Vikings 3-2. While the Mustangs didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-22), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Otay Ranch got a great performance from Luis Sanchez as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Sanchez has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jake Medina was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Carlos Martinez, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Otay Ranch's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-3. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for La Jolla, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

Otay Ranch wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 6-5 win against Ramona on the 28th. As for La Jolla, they have also already played their next game, a 12-11 loss against San Pasqual on the 31st.
