Basketball Recap: Make It Two in a Row for Gatewood

First Presbyterian Day came into Saturday's game looking for another win against Gatewood, but Matt Allen wouldn't allow it. The Gatewood Gators couldn't have asked for a better start to 2025 than the 67-27 blowout they got against the First Presbyterian Day Vikings thanks in part to Allen, who went 16 of 27 on his way to 37 points along with seven steals and five boards. That makes it 11 consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Gatewood's points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Rich, who posted two points in addition to six rebounds and five blocks. Those five blocks gave him a new career-high.

The victory made it two in a row for Gatewood and bumps their season record up to 10-2. As for First Presbyterian Day, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-8.

Gatewood will square off against Windsor Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Gatewood is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 69 points per game this season. As for First Presbyterian Day, they will face off against Mount de Sales Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
