Baseball Game Preview: Shawnee Braves vs. Bethel Bees

The Shawnee Braves will challenge the Bethel Bees at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Shawnee has given up an average of 6.7 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Shawnee came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Bellbrook, falling 13-1. The Braves haven't had much luck with the Golden Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Shawnee saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caden Wallace, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Bethel fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Urbana on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Hillclimbers by a score of 2-1.

Lucas Buckholtz was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in April.

Shawnee's defeat dropped their record down to 7-15. As for Bethel, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 13-10.

Shawnee skirted past Bethel 7-6 in their previous matchup back in April of 2022. Do the Braves have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bees turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
