Volleyball Game Preview: Pine River-Backus Tigers vs. Blackduck Drakes

Pine River-Backus has gone a perfect 6-0 against Blackduck recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Tigers will be playing at home against the Drakes at 6:45 p.m. Pine River-Backus will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

On Monday, Pine River-Backus made easy work of Mille Lacs co-op [Isle/Onamia] and carried off a 3-0 win.

Meanwhile, Blackduck unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-match winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lake of the Woods.

The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Lake of the Woods scored at least 19 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 22-25, 25-23, 25-22.

Pine River-Backus' victory bumped their record up to 14-8. As for Blackduck, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-6.

Everything went Pine River-Backus' way against Blackduck when the teams last played back in September of 2024, as Pine River-Backus made off with a 3-0 win. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Drakes turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
