Softball Game Preview: Texas City Stingarees vs. Santa Fe Indians

Texas City hasn't had much luck against Santa Fe recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Texas City Stingarees will venture away from home to take on the Santa Fe Indians at 12:30 p.m.

Texas City managed to slip by HCYA the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. Texas City came up short against HCYA on Friday, falling 15-5.

Meanwhile, Santa Fe was able to grind out a solid victory over Lutheran South Academy on Friday, taking the game 6-3.

Santa Fe got a great performance from Avery Williams as she struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. The dominant performance gave Williams a new career-high in strikeouts.

On the hitting side, Santa Fe let Cecilia Reyes and Mikayla Nations run wild. Reyes went 1-for-2 with two runs and one triple, while Nations went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. That's the most hits Nations has posted since back in February.

The win got Santa Fe back to even at 10-10. As for Texas City, their loss dropped their record down to 10-6-1.

Texas City couldn't quite get it done against Santa Fe in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 4-1. Can Texas City avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
