If Sabino was feeling good fresh off their 76-54 takedown of Safford last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Sabino Sabercats took a hard 66-49 fall against the Douglas Bulldogs on Thursday. The Sabercats' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Several Sabercats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Marie Gomez-Munoz, who went 5 of 6 on her way to 13 points and five boards. Jayda Haley was another key player, putting up 11 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

Douglas' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Francia Rubio, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine boards. Rubio has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 15 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Evelyn Gonzalez, who posted 11 points along with seven assists and six steals.

Sabino's defeat dropped their record down to 15-10. As for Douglas, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sabino will host Thatcher at 5:30 p.m. on February 6th. As for Douglas, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Sahuarita at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Douglas is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.5 points per game this season.
