Baseball Recap: Brother Rice Starts Season with Victory at Home

Brother Rice gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Reavis Rams. The Crusaders have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Rams, too.

Brayden McKendrick looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Conner Stack, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Jackson Natanek was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Reavis dropped their record down to 0-3 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Brother Rice didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 12-10 defeat against Huntley on the 22nd. As for Reavis, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 12-6 win against Berwyn/Cicero Morton on the 22nd.
