Softball Recap: Gridley Beats Paradise for Their Fourth Straight Win

Gridley put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past the Paradise Bobcats 12-4. The Bulldogs have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Bobcats, too.

Kay Pruitt made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits. Pruitt was even better at the plate, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Gridley got a massive performance out of Delanie Cloyd, who went 2-for-3 with two triples, three RBI, and two runs. Cloyd has been hot recently, having posted three or more RBI the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Rebecca Solis, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Gridley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in ten consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Gridley's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0. As for Paradise, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Gridley has already played their next game, a 13-4 loss against Las Plumas on the 22nd. As for Paradise, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 8-3 defeat against Orland on the 22nd.
