Softball Game Preview: Mapleton Mounties vs. Olmsted Falls Bulldogs

The Mapleton Mounties will challenge the Olmsted Falls Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Mapleton is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Plymouth with a sharp 17-1 win on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Mounties in their matchups with the Big Red: they've now won six in a row.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Olmsted Falls, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They came out on top against Strongsville on Thursday by a score of 6-2 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game).

ASHLEY SCOTT made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season.

In other batting news, HAILEY KLAMUT was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That double was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of BROOKE LARGENT, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI.

Olmsted Falls was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Strongsville only posted a batting average of .143.

Olmsted Falls' win bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Mapleton, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.
