Baseball Recap: Southlake Christian Academy Wins Going Away Against Gaston Day

SouthLake Christian Academy came out on top against Gaston Day on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run sixth inning. The Eagles blew past the Spartans 15-2. Considering the Eagles have won six matches by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Jack Salony spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on three hits and racked up ten Ks. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because SouthLake Christian Academy is 5-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 4-8 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Evan Hogg was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and three RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jackson Drayton, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

SouthLake Christian Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .575. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The victory got SouthLake Christian Academy back to even at 9-9. As for Gaston Day, their loss was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-14.

Looking ahead, SouthLake Christian Academy will take on Gaston Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Gaston Christian will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something SouthLake Christian Academy surely won't give up without a fight. As for Gaston Day, they will face off against Metrolina Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Warriors' pitching crew has only allowed 1.6 runs per game this season, so the Spartans' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
