Volleyball Game Preview: Buckeye Hawks vs. Desert Edge Scorpions

The Buckeye Hawks will head out on the road to face off against the Desert Edge Scorpions at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Buckeye took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over Washington.

Meanwhile, Desert Edge had already won five in a row and they went ahead and made it six on Thursday. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Mustangs.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (101-96) Desert Edge actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The match finished with set scores of 14-25, 25-16, 17-25, 25-22, 15-13.

Desert Edge pushed their record up to 14-7 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. As for Buckeye, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-9 record this season.

Buckeye beat Desert Edge 3-1 in their previous matchup on April 8th. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hawks since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
