Baseball Recap: Eldorado Comes Up Short

Eldorado had lost four straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 4-9 to make it five. They lost 10-2 to the Carmi-White County Bulldogs. The Eagles were not able to make up for their loss to the Bulldogs from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Eldorado saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jake Phelps, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double.

As for Carmi-White County, their victory bumped their record up to 6-8-1. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their one-run performance the matchup before.

On Carmi-White County's side, Merick Milhorn made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and only one walk). Milhorn also tossed a walk, which is notable because Carmi-White County is 2-0-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 4-8 otherwise. Milhorn was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mitchel Edwards, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cade Allen, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Coming up, Carmi-White County will host Harrisburg at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Eldorado will be paying especially close attention to the Bulldogs' contest: after the Bulldogs face off against the Bulldogs, they'll take on Eldorado again at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
