Miami Valley Christian Academy triumphant thanks to a strong effort from Gavin French

Even though the Miami Valley Christian Academy Lions have not done well against the Cincinnati Christian Cougars recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Miami Valley Christian Academy had just enough and edged Cincinnati Christian out 70-67. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.

It was another big night for Gavin French, who went 8 for 11 from beyond the arc en route to 26 points and 1 assist. The team also got some help courtesy of Casey Heap, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.

Miami Valley Christian Academy is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. As for Cincinnati Christian, they dropped their record down to 4-8 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Miami Valley Christian Academy will square off against Cincinnati Country Day at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cincinnati Country Day is coming into the game hot, having won their last seven games. Cincinnati Christian on the road again on Tuesday and play against St. Bernard-Elmwood Place at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th. St. Bernard-Elmwood Place is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
