Baseball Recap: Marion-Franklin Takes a Loss

Eastmoor Academy hit Marion-Franklin with a four-run seventh inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Red Devils fell 13-8 to the Warriors. The Red Devils have struggled against the Warriors recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Maxin Warner was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Marion-Franklin's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 4-1 (and 3-7 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Tony Jared, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Marion-Franklin now has a losing record of 7-8. As for Eastmoor Academy, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 16-2.

While Marion-Franklin had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
