Basketball Game Preview: Lanham Christian Lions vs. The Living Water School Storm

Lanham Christian is a perfect 4-0 against The Living Water School since December of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Lanham Christian Lions will face off against The Living Water School Storm at 5:30 p.m. Lanham Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 20 matchups -- so hopefully The Living Water School likes a good challenge.

Last Saturday, Lanham Christian strolled past Southern Maryland Christian Academy with points to spare, taking the game 63-44. The Lions pushed the score to 51-25 by the end of the third, a deficit the Mustangs cut but never quite recovered from.

Lanham Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Naz Joy, who almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine assists. Joy has been hot recently, having also posted five or more steals the last three times he's played. Jamar Payen was another key player, dropping a double-double with 16 points and ten boards.

Lanham Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 33 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, The Living Water School entered their tilt with Southern Maryland Christian Academy on Tuesday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. They took down the Mustangs 70-51.

The Living Water School's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-9. As for Lanham Christian, their record now sits at 20-5.

Everything went Lanham Christian's way against The Living Water School in their previous matchup back in January, as Lanham Christian made off with a 70-45 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lanham Christian since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
