League recap: Briarcrest Christian exits state Top 25 after defeat

Briarcrest Christian suffered a letdown when it was bounced from the state Top 25 this week after losing to Christian Brothers. The Saints had been ranked 25th, but fell to 38.

Memphis University led Division II AA - West in scoring this week after putting up 42 points on St. Benedict at Auburndale. Jordan Rodgers threw for 175 yards and two touchdowns and ran for three yards in the win.

Breck Ruddick provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Purple Wave beat Briarcrest Christian. He completed 11 passes for 157 yards and two touchdowns and also ran for 39 yards. Ruddick's favorite target this week was Anthony Miller, who caught seven passes for 132 yards.

Ramadi Warren was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 161 yards on 15 carries as Christian Brothers bested Carly Powers' team.

6-foot-1 quarterback Rodgers of the Owls is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1786. He has also thrown 25 touchdowns. On the ground, Kevin Locastro's team's Kurtis Hicks has rushed for 698 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Miller. The Christian Brothers star has 33 catches for 519 yards.

The Purple Wave made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 265 from 492. The improvement came about via a 38-21 victory over the Saints last week.
