Baseball Game Preview: Gadsden Panthers vs. Alamogordo Tigers

For the second straight game, Gadsden will face off against Alamogordo. The Panthers will host the Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Considering Gadsden has lost eight straight at home and Alamogordo 14 straight on the road (dating back to last season), this one might come down to who's more desperate to change their momentum.

Gadsden blew Alamogordo out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Monday Alamogordo got their revenge. The Panthers fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 3-1.

For Alamogordo's part, Aric Vazquez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up six Ks. Vazquez also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Tigers are undefeated when he allows at most two earned runs, but 6-15 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brandon Williams, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. Another player making a difference was Jaden Ruiz, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Gadsden's loss dropped their record down to 5-18-1. As for Alamogordo, their victory bumped their record up to 9-15.
