Baseball Recap: Dunedin Takes a Loss

Dunedin came into this matchup off a tough eight-run loss last Wednesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Tampa Prep Terrapins by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Falcons have suffered since February 9th.

Dunedin had to settle for second despite strong performances on the mound from Denton Mycroft Newkirk and Brayden Jackson Newkirk pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits, while Jackson pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Jackson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Dunedin saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Collin Stebick, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Dunedin has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-6 record this season. As for Tampa Prep, their win bumped their record up to 7-11.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dunedin will welcome Parrish Community at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Tampa Prep, they will be playing in front of their home fans against St. Petersburg Catholic at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
