If Miami-Yoder was feeling good fresh off their 61-36 takedown of Genoa-Hugo/Karval last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Miami-Yoder Buffaloes were just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 45-44 to the Calhan Bulldogs. The Buffaloes were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.
When it comes to explaining why Miami-Yoder lost, don't look at Jel Wallerstedt. Despite the final result, he shot 50% from the field on his way to 19 points and seven rebounds. That was a full 43.2% of Miami-Yoder's points, marking the fourth time in a row Wallerstedt has posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Bernhart, who scored 12 points and four steals.
Patrick Glaser was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 26 points and ten boards for Calhan. Glaser's big performance that evening made it 18 games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Ethan Whitener, who put up eight points.
Miami-Yoder has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season. Miami-Yoder wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 56-52 loss against Wiley on the 25th. Calhan has also already played their next contest (against Simla), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
