Baseball Recap: River View Takes a Loss

River View had lost three straight at home, but on Monday they dropped down to 2-5 to make it four. They came up short against the John Glenn Muskies, falling 14-2. Black Bears fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Muskies since Monday.

As for John Glenn, their record is now 4-9. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For John Glenn's part, Carter Merry made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Merry has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2025.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jensen Parry, who went 2-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Zane Townsend was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. River View is set to challenge their familiar foe Crooksville at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, John Glenn will square off against rival Maysville at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
