Basketball Preview: Vision vs. Notus Pirates

Vision has enjoyed the comforts of home their last four games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Notus Pirates at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Vision scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 65-37 win over Centennial Baptist at home. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 43-21.

Vision got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ethan Ingram out in front who scored 14 points along with seven assists and six rebounds. Ingram is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaac Bay, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and six steals.

Meanwhile, even though Horseshoe Bend scored an imposing 64 points on Saturday, Notus still came out on top. Notus snuck past the Mustangs with a 70-64 win.

Notus' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Luis Vargas, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine assists. It was the first time this season that Vargas posted eight or more assists. Grayson Benitez was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.

Vision has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season. As for Notus, their victory bumped their record up to 9-5.

This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Vision have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 38.7 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Notus struggles in that department as they've been averaging 31.6 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Vision was taken down by the Pirates 65-37 when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can Vision avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
