Softball Game Preview: Singer Hornets vs. Hathaway Hornets

Singer are taking a road trip to face off against Hathaway at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Singer will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.

On Thursday, Singer got the win against Johnson Bayou by a conclusive 16-1. The victory continues a trend for the Hornets in their matchups with the Rebels: they've now won three in a row.

Jada Eaves was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-4. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game.

In other batting news, Hanna Johnson was a standout: she scored two runs and stole five bases while going 2-for-3. Those five stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Breeanna Mitchell, who scored three runs and stole seven bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Singer was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Hathaway and Basile finished up their contest with a 0-0 tie on Monday.

Singer's record is now 4-11. Hathaway's tie makes their record 0-6-1 this season.

Singer took their win against Hathaway in their previous matchup back in March of 2023 by a conclusive 22-2 score. Does Singer have another victory up their sleeve, or will Hathaway turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
