Football Recap: Fairmont Comes Up Short

Friday just wasn't the day for Fairmont's offense. They were dealt a 31-0 loss at the hands of the St. Pauls Bulldogs on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Golden Tornadoes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 386th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 153rd).

The critical scores for St. Pauls came from Yoshua McBryde, Malikah Locklear, Aubrey Cobbs, and Jakhi Purcell.

Fairmont's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for St. Pauls, their win was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0.

Fairmont and St. Pauls will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next contests. The next time the Golden Tornadoes see the field they'll take on South Columbus at 7:00 p.m. on October 3. As for St. Pauls, their break will end when they face E.E. Smith at 7:00 p.m. on October 3.
