Volleyball Recap: Lafayette Central Catholic Comes Up Short

Lafayette Central Catholic lost against West Lafayette back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Knights came up short against the Red Devils, falling 3-0.

The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-10, 25-17.

Lauren Johnson paced Lafayette Central Catholic's offense, picking up five kills. Johnson got some help from Paige Perez and her 11 assists. Perez was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Leading West Lafayette to victory were Addie Gehres and Sophie Lee. Gehres had 14 assists and three aces, while Lee had ten digs and three aces. That's the most aces Gehres has posted over her last 12 matchups.

Lafayette Central Catholic has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-12 record this season. As for West Lafayette, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 16-7.

Lafayette Central Catholic has already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Rensselaer Central on the 4th. As for West Lafayette, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 loss against Hamilton Heights on the 4th.
