Softball Game Preview: Montini Catholic Broncos vs. Geneva Vikings

The Montini Catholic Broncos will head out on the road to challenge the Geneva Vikings at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Montini Catholic is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering St. Laurence just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They came up short against the Vikings, falling 15-0. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Broncos were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Geneva). They were the clear victors by a 16-8 margin over Hinsdale South on Tuesday. The Vikings not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 21, 2024.

The team relied heavily on Clara Lyons, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Megan O'Connor, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

Geneva was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .415. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Geneva's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Montini Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-3.
