Basketball Recap: Riley Ellis' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Brevard HEAT over Merritt Island Christian

Brevard HEAT lost against Merritt Island Christian back in November of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Brevard HEAT Firehawks fell 58-49 to the Merritt Island Christian Cougars. The Firehawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Brevard HEAT's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Riley Ellis, who posted 19 points. Ellis' evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Joseph Koubek was another key player, going 6 for 10 on his way to 14 points and eight rebounds.

Brevard HEAT's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Merritt Island Christian, the win got them back to even at 5-5.

Brevard HEAT will take on City of Life Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Merritt Island Christian, they will challenge Melbourne Central Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
