Baseball Recap: Vernon Sets Scoring Season-High Against Lenape Valley

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Vernon). Everything went their way against the Lenape Valley Patriots on Monday as they made off with a 16-5 victory. With that win, the Vikings brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Vernon let Gavin Bruno and James Curry run wild. Bruno went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs, while Curry went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave Curry a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Joe Rodriguez, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Vernon hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in six consecutive contests.

Vernon's victory bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Lenape Valley, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

Looking ahead, Vernon will take on High Point at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Lenape Valley, they will challenge Kittatinny Regional on Wednesday.
