Baseball Game Preview: Lexington Minutemen vs. Columbian Tornadoes

The Lexington Minutemen will square off against the Columbian Tornadoes at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. Columbian took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Lexington, who comes in off a win.

Lexington barely beat Mansfield Senior the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Minutemen put the hurt on the Tygers with a sharp 9-2 win on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Minutemen in their matchups with the Tygers: they've now won eight in a row.

Meanwhile, Columbian suffered their biggest defeat since April 3rd on Monday. They lost 8-2 to Calvert. The loss continues a trend for the Tornadoes in their meetings with the Senecas: they've now lost three in a row.

Columbian saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jayce Arias, who went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Columbian's defeat dropped their record down to 10-14. As for Lexington, their win bumped their record up to 12-13.

Lexington took their victory against Columbian in their previous matchup back in April of 2023 by a conclusive 10-0 score. Will the Minutemen repeat their success, or do the Tornadoes have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
