Football Recap: Ann Sobrato Bulldogs vs. Leland Chargers
Ann Sobrato lost against Leland back in October of 2016, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Ann Sobrato Bulldogs took a 31-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Leland Chargers. Despite 183 more yards than the Chargers, the Bulldogs couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.
Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Parker Orr, who rushed for 107 yards on only six carries, and also caught a touchdown. Those 107 rushing yards gave Orr a new career-high. Ryan Hankins was another key pass catcher, picking up 125 receiving yards.
A big part of Leland's win came down to the chemistry between Jacob Gibson and his top target Brady Hernandez. Gibson rushed for 35 yards and a touchdown while Hernandez rushed for 87 yards.
Ann Sobrato has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-3 record this season. As for Leland, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-2.
Ann Sobrato wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 47-14 win against Prospect on the 2nd. Leland has also already played their next contest, a 35-8 victory against Gilroy on the 31st.
