Recap: Sturgeon Bulldogs vs. Westran Hornets
The Sturgeon Bulldogs lost against the Westran Hornets back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Sturgeon's rough 60-37 defeat to Westran might stick with them for a while. Sturgeon has struggled against Westran recently, as their match on Monday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Westran to victory, but perhaps none more so than Marshall Kitchen, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. The game was Kitchen's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Brady Hollman, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Sturgeon's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Westran, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-2.
Sturgeon will finish 2023 at home by hosting New Bloomfield at 2:00 p.m. on December 28th. Westran will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Northeast at 3:30 p.m. on December 30th. Northeast and Westran are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
