Volleyball Recap: East Bakersfield Takes a Loss + How To Watch

If East Bakersfield was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Golden Valley last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Blades took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Highland Scots on Tuesday. The Blades were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Scots apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

While East Bakersfield ultimately came up short, they really made Highland work, particularly in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 28-26, 25-27, 25-17, 25-8.

Aryona Harris paced East Bakersfield's offense, picking up 12 kills. Harris got some help from Roxanna Ramirez and her 18 assists. Emma Baltazar controlled things from the service line, finishing with five aces.

Highland's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Aryanee Razo, who had 14 digs and two aces. That's the most aces Razo has posted since back in October of 2024. Another player making a difference was Brooklynn Hill, who hit 62.5% for five kills and 22 digs and five aces.

East Bakersfield's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Highland, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Coming up, East Bakersfield will be taking part in a tournament against Mira Monte at 9:00 a.m. on Friday. As for Highland, they are taking a road trip to face off against Ridgeview at 8:00 a.m. on Friday.
