Basketball Recap: Metea Valley Gets the Win

Metea Valley won the last time they faced Plainfield North and things went their way on Saturday too. The Metea Valley Mustangs slipped by the Plainfield North Tigers 44-43. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Mustangs' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 319th, while the Tigers are ranked 74th).

Metea Valley's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Annie Burk, who posted 12 points. That's the most points Burk has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jailyn Cutts, who had 11 points.

Metea Valley's victory bumped their record up to 8-20. As for Plainfield North, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Metea Valley will challenge DeKalb at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Plainfield North, they will venture away from home to take on Bolingbrook at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
